Hey friends! I know it’s been a long while since you’ve received an update from me through blogging but I am alive and well and in GUATEMALA currently!! I spent the first month of the world race in Gainesville, Georgia for training camp where we were able to prepare for the field. During this time we worshipped, grew closer as a squad, and received daily teachings about sharing the Gospel and strengthening our relationship with the Lord. Looking back at our time in Georgia, I can say that it was a fruitful time because it allowed me to sit with the Lord and surrender my expectations of what I thought this season should look like. It was a tough realization but I’m learning that His plans are always better.

After training camp in Georgia we headed to Hammond, Louisiana for two weeks to serve alongside of Samaritan’s purse for hurricane relief from hurricane Ida. My team was not only able to clear people’s yards that had been left a mess from fallen trees, but have conversations with homeowners about the Lord and be encouraged by their trust in Jesus through a storm. Our time in Louisiana will always be close to my heart because my team grew so much and we were able to have so much joy in the midst of hard and mostly exhausting manual labor.

Most recently, I have been in Guatemala for two months now with my squad where we have been able to serve so many communities and plant seeds for the Lord. Ministry in Guatemala has been so good. Here’s what a typical week of ministry looks like for team Jubilee:

Monday & Friday – serve at an elementary school called Loving Arms; where we help the family who has a cow farm there that goes to supporting the school, paint classrooms, organize school supplies, and do whatever they need to get ready for the new school year.

Tuesday – kid’s ministry in a town called Chimachoy! We walk around inviting kids to come play soccer, color, and worship together.

Wednesday – we work with our ministry host, Chako, who’s ministry is called Dar Para Dar (Give to Give). We were able to be apart of building a house for Elias and his family who live in Patzún.

Thursday – church activation! In the morning we have a teaching from someone on staff here at Adventures and we talk about what we learned with our team and then we go out into the community and practice what we learned.

Saturday & Sunday – off days! Or adventure days! We don’t have ministry on weekends so you can normally find us at a coffee shop to get wifi to call our families or out exploring Antigua.

This is what the past two months in Guatemala has looked like for us and it has been such a journey. There has been times of joy and times of hardship. There has been times where I love waking up and doing ministry and also times where I have to ask the Lord to keep me going.

I’ve learned and grown so much in the last two months. I’m excited to share more about it in another blog, but as of right now we have a little less than two weeks in Guatemala before we head to Johannesburg, South Africa! I’m excited for what’s to come and for more growth and more planted seeds!

Sadie
